James Sheptycki is Professor of Criminology at York University in Toronto.  His research and teaching concern crime and policing and his most recent book (written with Ben Bowling) is titled Global Policing (Sage, 2012).  His current research concerns police organization and intelligence processes.

Comparative Methodology and Socio-Legal Studies - Why Not Compare Apples and Pears

This master class, presented by Dr Saskia Hufnagel, will take place on Thursday, 30 March 2017, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, at the University of Montreal, Pavillon Lionel-Groulx, Local C-4104.

Dr Saskia Hufnagel is a Senior Lecturer in Criminal Law at Queen Mary University London. She previously worked as a Research Fellow at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security (CEPS), Griffith University, Australia, and was a Leverhulme Fellow at the University of Leeds. She taught at the ANU College of Law and held a permanent teaching position at the University of Canberra.

She previously worked as a Research Fellow at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security (CEPS), Griffith University, Australia, and was a Leverhulme Fellow at the University of Leeds. She taught at the ANU College of Law and held a permanent teaching position at the University of Canberra. She has widely published on international police cooperation, comparative constitutional law, terrorism and art crime. Her publications include Policing Cooperation Across Borders: Comparative Perspectives on Law Enforcement within the EU and Australia Ashgate, 2013. Dr Hufnagel is a qualified German legal professional and accredited specialist in criminal law.

Alyssa Blondon a complété son baccalauréat en anthropologie et psychologie à l’Université d’Ottawa. Durant son baccalauréat elle a eu la chance d’aller un mois à Uharte-Arakil en Espagne pour participer à une fouille mortuaire archéologique et ostéologique. Elle a ensuite réussi sa maitrise en archéologie et anthropologie judiciaire à Cranfield University, Shrivenham, Royaume-Uni. Durant sa maitrise elle a participé à une fouille archéologique à Ogbourne St-Andrew en Angleterre, sur un large complexe agricole médiéval. Sa thèse de recherche concernait l’Opération Mincemeat, une campagne britannique de désinformation lors de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale. En septembre 2017, elle entamera son doctorat en science biomédicale en étudiant la décomposition dans un climat humide continental.

Jan Doering is an assistant professor of sociology at McGill University. He received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 2014 and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on ethno-racial experience and politics in various contexts. He is currently completing a book manuscript on the politics of crime in two multiracial Chicago neighborhoods

En première partie de cette soirée, les étudiantes Catherine Amireault et Annabelle St-Pierre, présenteront une communication intitulée : «Détection et quantification des cannabinoïdes naturels : Regard critique sur l’établissement de valeurs seuils»

En deuxième partie, il y aura deux présentations :

1- Conduite avec facultés affaiblies par le cannabis. Présentée par  Pierre-André Dubé, pharmacien-toxicologue à l’Institut national de santé publique du Québec.

2- Le rôle de l’agent évaluateur en matière de capacité de conduite affaiblie par la drogue. Présentée par Jimmy Lapointe, policier agent évaluateur au Service de police de la ville de Québec.
