This themed week aims to showcase criminology in all its dimensions and to highlight the contribution of diverse stakeholders to the understanding, prevention, and resolution of issues related to crime and social justice.

This event will feature a screening of an episode of the television series The Detectives, followed by a discussion with its producer and an invited panel of experts. The episode focuses on the investigation into the 1995 disappearance of eight-year-old Jackie Clarke. It addresses themes related to violence and the victimization of children that may be distressing for some viewers.
The discussion will explore the realities of criminal investigation by bringing into dialogue media, professional, and scientific perspectives, while reflecting on contemporary challenges in criminal inquiry.

Rémi Boivin, Full Professor at the School of Criminology, Université de Montréal, where he oversees the Criminalistics and Information stream of the Master’s program in Criminology;

Maurice Robitaille, Detective Sergeant with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), where he has served for nearly twenty years in specialized units, including narcotics trafficking, organized crime, proceeds of crime, and homicide;

Jean Proulx, Full Professor at the School of Criminology, Université de Montréal, and researcher and forensic psychologist in treatment programs for sexual offenders at the Institut Philippe-Pinel de Montréal, a maximum-security psychiatric institution.
The discussion will be moderated by Tamsin Higgs, forensic psychologist in the Department of Psychology at the Université de Montréal and Associate Director of the CICC.
