When comparing youth who commit sexual offenses (YCSO) with youth who commit non-sexual offenses (YCNSO) in terms of risk factors for recidivism, differences are more apparent between individuals in the same group than between the two groups. This article aimed to differentiate youth who committed a criminal offense (sexual or non-sexual in nature) according to their non-sexual recidivism risk profile, using the Youth Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (YLS/CMI). The study is based on a sample of 703 youths supervised under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, including 77 YCSO. Latent profile analyses conducted using the YLS/CMI scores identified four recidivism risk profiles : Adolescent misstep (18.42 % ; n = 130), Antisocial with school problems (24.47 % ; n = 172), Substance abuse (27.88 % ; n = 196), and Multi-risk (29.16 % ; n = 205). Comparative analyses showed that YCSO were distributed, in varying proportions, across all identified profiles, thereby supporting the presence of similarities between YCSO and YCNSO. Moreover, the four profiles did not all differ for certain recidivism types, despite differing with respect to numerous risk domains.
