Pedohebephilia is a risk factor for child sexual abuse, particularly when it is preferential. Despite advances in knowledge of this subject, the complexity of adults with this type of sexual interest remains difficult to understand. More specifically, few studies have examined the heterogeneity of profiles among individuals with pedohebephilic interests. The present study therefore examines the distinctive characteristics of adults with pedohebephilic interests, with a specific focus on the distinction between subgroups. Using data from an online questionnaire distributed via specialized forums between 2018 and 2019, various elements related to developmental history and dynamic risk factors are analyzed based on a sample of more than 330 individuals, divided into three groups according to their sexual interests (i.e., preferential pedohebephilia, non-preferential pedohebephilia, and teleiophilia). The results provide a better understanding of the diversity of needs among the concerned adults, helping to guide practices towards more appropriate prevention of child sexual abuse.
