The validation of measures assessing attitudes towards individuals who sexually offend represents a major issue due to their influence on stigmatization, as well as clinical, legislative and political prevention strategies. The short version of the Attitudes to Sexual Offenders Scale (ATS-21) is a valid and reliable measure of the three components of attitudes : cognition, affect and behaviour. Currently, no validation exists for the French-speaking Belgian population. This study thus assesses the psychometric qualities of the French version of the ATS-21, while highlighting interpretative norms, based on a sample of 338 participants (Mage = 40.46 years ; 79.29 % female). The resulting scores are similar to those of the reference study (Hogue et Harper, 2019), except for the Trust and Social Distance dimensions. Internal consistency is acceptable to good for the measures as a whole (α = 0.75-0.89), and the correlations between these components are high (r = 0.62-0.87). Additionally, convergent validity with the Acceptance of Modern Myths about Sexual Aggression scale (AMMSA) is low to moderate (r = -0.09 to -0.37). Content validity was further explored using confirmatory and exploratory factor analyses, which also revealed a three-factor structure. However, the distribution of items across factors differed from the reference study.
